Introducing “Friends” Women's Ministry

at Heathervale Baptist Church

Whilst scanning the most recent posts on Facebook I was inspired by this question; 'Why not encourage, compliment, serve, include, inspire, challenge or share your life with someone today?'


Our heart is to see the women of Heathervale and the women around us spending time together.  When friends of all ages come together we can learn so much from each other and build strong relationships.  With this in mind we are pleased to announce that we are launching a Women's Ministry called FRIENDS, where we will have opportunity for everyone to feel accepted, loved and included in various events and activities planned at Heathervale.


Our Vision


To provide a women's ministry for women from all walks of life, which, will enable and equip women to grow to be the women of God which he created them to be.


Our Mission


Encouraging and empowering to be the women of God he created them to be by:-

  • Journeying together in our relationship with Jesus
  • Encouraging authentic relationships and accountability
  • Empowering people in their spiritual gifts
  • Reaching out to the community


You may be thinking why have we have named the group FRIENDS? Each letter represents an area that we are passionate to see grow within the Women's Ministry, this includes:

Feeding our souls through friendship, connection, the word of God and worship.


“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.” 2 Timothy 1:6

Reaching new people and connecting them in.


“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 18: 19-20

Inspiring each other to be the women God created us to be.


“And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the day approaching” Hebrews 10 24-25

Empowering each other through God's Spirit to live life to the full in Him.


“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who has called us by his own glory and goodness”. 1 Peter 1 v 3

Nurturing people through God's word.


“Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, just as in fact you are doing;” 1 Thessalonians 5 v11

Dreaming together to discover the purpose God has for our lives.


“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church forever and ever!” Ephesians 3:20

Serving one another through friendship and ministry.


“So Christ gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up, until we reach unity in the faith and in the Knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians: 4 11-13

God's created each one of us with different passions, abilities and a heart to reach out, often in different ways.  We live such busy lives that have different requirements and time restrictions.  For this reason we have introduced elements to FRIENDS which we hope you will be able to get involved in, with an opportunity to bring friends and the women around you to.  Our hope is that everyone will feel a part of this.  Some of the strands to FRIENDS will include:

Friends Connect - This will be the new name to New Shoots. Friends Connect is an opportunity to come together as women, build relationships and inspire and empower "one another" to discover God's purpose for our lives. We meet on a Tuesday afternoon at 1pm in the coffee lounge at Church. After coffee and a catch up we enjoy getting stuck into God's word together, looking at how we can apply it to our every day lives, times of worship and prayer. If you are part of a small group at church you are more than welcome to come along to Friends Connect too, it isn't a replacement of your small group but an opportunity to come together and build relationships with other women at church and encourage one another in our faith. Friends Connect is for women of all ages, children are welcome, we provide baby & toddler toys.
